Earl Ard, 77, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home. He was born in Silsbee on November 4, 1940. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He took pride in his work. He retired in 2005 from TEXDOT, after 46 years of service, where he was active in truck rodeos. He was always willing to give advice to anyone who would listen. He was always willing to help out and lend a hand. He was a person who loved to travel all over the country and all over the world. He enjoyed the outdoors, he liked hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and keeping his yard nice. He loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Evia Ard; and grandson, Brian Wayne Drake, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty Ard of Silsbee; daughters, Katrina Terry and husband, Derrick of Silsbee, Renee Mitchell and husband, Hank of Lumberton; grandchildren, Crystal Reider and husband, Brett of Silsbee, Brandon Terry and wife, Taylor of Silsbee, Sandy Drake of Cleburne, TX, and Callie Mitchell of Lumberton; great-grandchildren, L. J. Roberts of Cleburne, TX, and Stormi Marshall of Silsbee.

His family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2018 at Farmer Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jim Fuller and Pastor Earl Crawford. Interment will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Gore, Aaron Gore, Larry Joe Gordan, Brandon Terry, Benny Owen, and Andres Vega.
